I prefer intimate to small, but seriously does anyone have any input on contemporary artists that excel in this arena? I am always on the look out for examples of other artists that work with in this arena and was interested to see if any of you had seen anything reciently that was inspiring.
Not to long ago I was in Philly and saw some very interesting work (the drawings presented with the work are also very strong)

Thanks in advance for any and all responses!

Have you tried channeling Joseph Cornell? Seriously, it's a popular mode here in New Orleans, but this being the city it is, most pieces are reliquaries, retablos, or just plain fun. Some artists give great attention to detail and craftsmanship, but many use a pseudo “self-taught” approach. I can’t name any really well-known current people in this area.

Perhaps miniature is better? As it does not imply lesser...

Just a thought.
