I've just finished casting, in plaster, the sitting figure of a southwestern indian woman. During the casting process i used hemp as a strengthener in the plaster. Unfortunately some of the hemp in a small area got too close to the surface of the casting. I've determined that the only way to correct the problem is to plaster over the potion of the casting where the hemp shows. Now comes the problem. After reading a recent book on sculpture, i decided that i could give more life to the opaqueness of my casting by using one or more coats of white french polish. The question is, if i patch the problem plaster on my casting will the difference between the patched portion and the original area show when the polish is applied.? Any help or referral to a help site would be appreciated.
