Hi

Here's my newest pieces, from last week, my first wood carvings ever.
Frist one an oak carving, and the other a chestnut one.

Welcom opinions. They're so valuable.

Beautiful wood carvings Chanoc,
I've only tried subtractive sculpture once - way back in 1979 on a piece of soapstone - but this torso inspires me to give it another go.

Hi Chanoc:

really nice works
you have a good feel for the figurative
and the pix are of a professional quality.

please show more views of both the torso and the woman in the flame or on the horn(point of view?)

What finish did you use?

I ain't seen a large live chestnut 'round her for quite awhile.

Here's another views of DRIOPE.

I'll post others from HAMADRIADE in my next.

To finish wood works I use fibered wood seales and a buffed wax coat. The harder the wood, the easiest to finish it.

Where do you by Hickory wood?
I'm working on a large piece in clay and want to do in wood.2' x 2'x 4'
Is there a recource for wood blocks for sculptors?
I'd like boxwood or pear, or Hickory or oak.
Ideas? Nice work by the way.
Thank you , Gary
