A pricey photo 3d modeler ($2750). Has anyone used this type of program? I ran the trial and found it fun and fast. However the texture map is a bit deceiving to the eye, putting more depth than the 3d model actually has.

But the price would keep me from buying. Maybe a cheaper version is out there. :(

I tried the original Photo Modeler, back in 1997, and it was a clunky piece of crap. I haven't tried it since.

Meanwhile, not long after that, Metacreations (now defunct creator of Bryce, which is now owned by Daz Productions) came up with their version, called Canoma. It did all the same things, only better and it was more user friendly, supposedly.

I currently use a design tool called SketchUp, which I've been using since 2003, and it has a canoma-like feature built in. It is amazing! You can take a single photo and build a photo-textured 3D model from it. SketchUp is only $495, I believe, available from @Last Software: http://www.sketchup.com
