How do you feel about a new section where we can feature a sculptor every month? Please see this thread (http://www.sculpture.net/community/showthread.php?t=2454) for the proposal.
I have set this poll to run for two weeks (until March 2nd). Please cast your vote by then. If there is interest in this, I will get in touch with Russ and Cantab to work out the details.
Please use the voting feature to express interest, and limit the posts to actual comments. Posts with comments which are merely for or against the idea will not be counted towards the final numbers.
Thanks.

I voted other, thinking there is no need for a SCULPTOR OF THE MONTH section. This is a message board/forum and it seems that all you have to do is initiate a dialogue in the Happenings and Featured Members section and let the subject take off on it's own. No forum alterations, no pressure, no biggie. Just post and go with it.

As Fused mentioned, The Happenings/Featured Members section exists for this purpose. The original idea concerns featuring members from our community, but can easily incorporate the idea of including other artists we would like to examine in greater depth.

The suggestion that the Sculpture of the Month should go in ‘Happening and Featured Events’ seems fine to me. And thanks, Julianna, for following up with the poll.
Can I now propose the following:
We create a poll to ask interested parties to vote for the five (or 10?)sculptors that they would like to discuss, keeping in mind the following:
a) That the main focus of this thread will be on major established sculptors from any period (discussion of ISC members' work, for instance, belongs elsewhere);
b) That the list offered by those interested can simply be their five favourite sculptors OR those they think will make an interesting discussion.
These lists will be interesting in themselves, I’m sure, and even if visitors to the poll do not initially intend to take part in the actual discussions, the polled data may be useful.
I would propose that we run the poll for a period of 10 days to see how it goes. In the future, we can run polls as monthly discussions are in progress.
