After the feedback from my last post (bronze plate) (thanks for the comments) I am reconsidering the bronze. I am now considering aluminum. The only thing is, one of the main reasons I considered bronze was the ability to patina and the many options available. My question now is, is there any way to patina aluminum? I really would like the sculpture to be darker color. Also, if patina is possible, will it weather nicely? Will it require cyclic refinishing?
Thanks again everybody for the feedback. It really helps.

I think that anodized or powder coating might be your only durable choices when it comes to aluminum.

Unless you want to do Arc/flame sprayed metals over the top of aluminum.

Get online with the Thomas Registery or look up a version of "The Metal Finisher's Handbook", you'll find a vast assortment of ways to color and/or plate all types of metals with a cold wash chemical application. Particularly on aluminum.
