A very popular art event took place on last saterday troughout the 46 countries members of the "european council" from portugal to azerbedjian, from norway to greece, from ireland to russia : "The night of the museums". More than 16OO museums open with absolute free access till midnight/1am.... most of them have had specific animations for the circonstumce. Interresting initiative, isn't it?

As an example I was in Paris (1million visitors for this edition of the "night"! -a bit crowded-) and first visited the "Victor Hugo museum" and had the chance to see there a 20 minutes theater piece and then I went to the "Rodin museum" which presented a light show of the light artist Verjux in the wonderful park of the museum as well as a performance of poets.

I'm not surprised. What with free entry, and the pop urge to see the mystery in Da Vinci's Mona Lisa, etc.

By the way, I notice the Louvre and other public Museum in France give free entry to all art students that produce valid student cards, even from other countries, and even if he has greying hair (I benefited when when I visited them not too long ago, while registered as a part-time student in my local art college.)

About this museum day, or night mentioned by anne, I think this is called the 'International Museum Day'. Here the local museums offered some activities (mainly fun activities for the younger set) to attract more visitors on that day.
