I like Sculpture magazine, it's very professional and informative. But as an artist, I'm very interested in other artists--how they work, where they live, etc. I'd like to see more photos of artists working or photos and information about their studios. How about it--what do other people think?

I agree about more biographical and contextual info about artists! As a member based organization, ISC has a mandate to deal more with people than art only. It is a different type of writing and from a practical standpoint we will need to develop new writers who do more human-interest work.
Thanks for the suggestion. Randy

You're absolutely right! I love visiting artist studios when I travel. I'm always amazed, inspired and learn new things from just about every studio I visit.
Here is a photo looking out at night from Mark di Suvero's studio in New York.

I agree with the initial post, too. The article about Ursula von Rydingsvard was a good step in that direction.

I heartily agree that ISC should shed increasing light on the people behind the art.
Elizabeth Catlett (http://www.sculpture.org/documents/catlett/cat_release.htm), recipient of this years ISC Lifetime Achievement Award, represents a great example of how an artist's approach, quiet perserverance and integrity add another dimension of quality to a body of work. Watch April's issue of Sculpture Magazine for Michael Brenson's interview.
Currently, we run at least two of the magazine's interviews every month in the online version. I find that these conversations often shed much light on the artists, their philosophies and their approach to their craft.
We perpetually look for ways to improve the online experience and the inclusion of more of this type of content is one way we can do that. - Georges
