This is fantastic. A man donated these larger-than-life bronze statues to a school (as well as two Steinway pianos and pay for an arts auditorium). Excerpts from the news article (http://www.billingsgazette.net/articles/2006/06/21/news/state/85-mustang-sculpture.txt) are below.

Ennis man donates bronze horse statues to school district

ENNIS, Mont. The front lawn of Ennis High School boasts a new set of statues valued at over $500,000.

Emerson Hall, 93, donated the five bronze mustangs in honor of his wife, Theda, who died in August 2004 at age 88. [snip]

The larger-than-life-sized statues -- two stallions, two mares and a colt -- were unveiled Monday during a concert at the high school.

The statues were created by Hall's longtime friend Douglas Van Howd of Auburn, California, who served as official White House artist during the Reagan Administration.

Van Howd, 71, said the 6,000-pound piece took over a year and a half to make.
