It is on now. Should be good. Wonder how much he is paid for this.

NEW YORK -- What's being billed as the first major exhibit in New York City of Dale Chihuly's colorful glass sculptures is on view at the New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx.

The majority of the exhibit is inside the garden's Victorian glasshouse, the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory, but there are more than 1,000 pieces in all in 30 installations around the garden, including floating sculptures in the courtyard pools to a crystal tower in front of the conservatory.

St. Louis, MO is also having a Chihuly exhibit at the Missouri Botanical Gardens. Some of it is outside and is lit one night a week. Haven't gotten there yet,but I've heard it is beautiful.

I think Dale Chihuly glass (http://flickr.com/search/?q=Dale%20Chihuly%20glass&w=all) has been doing a Whurled Garden Tour for the past few years. A year or two ago it was London
and recently the Atlanta Botanical Gardens (a few pictures here) (http://flickr.com/photos/debrabooth/sets/72057594066078101/) which now has Niki de Saint Phalle's (http://chromogenia.typepad.com/artatlanta/2006/07/niki_in_the_gar.html) large Nanas
and a whole lot more (http://flickr.com/search/?q=Niki%20de%20Saint%20Phalle&w=all&m=tags).

Thanks again Fused for posting the nice photos. I like very much the lighted ones at Atlanta, making the sculptures and the garden enjoyable after dark.

I wonder how they are made. Some are blown, others seem to be solid. For the larger ones, the artist or his assistant may have to stand high up.

And I also wonder how the large glass sculptures are transported. They would be heavy. But if they are solid glass pieces, they may be strong enough even when moved around. This is unless they accidentally get knocked by something hard.

Some of the sculptures seem to be in many pieces, perhaps assembled on site with cranes.
