I realize that the latest conference ended very recently, but is there any information regarding the next one?

Due to a hectic personal schedule, I was unable to attend the last one and would like to plan accordingly.

It is my understanding that the next one will occur in Seattle Washington, timed to coincide with the completion of the new sculpture park there.

Thanks for the update on that, Ries!

I'm really glad to hear the conference will take place on the West Coast.

I'm on the West Coast also. It would be fun to meet up in person at the Conference with a bunch of you all :)

Well, according to Ries' link, the opening of Olympic Sculpture Park takes place on January 20 and 21, 2007--
Is there any confirmation that the next ISC Conference will coincide with the opening?

If so, time is short!

Please forgive me for going slightly off topic, but could someone tell me what the year was when the ISC Conference was held in Philadalphia? I think it was 1993. Christo was the feature sculptor.

Any updates on the specifics pretaining to the next ISC Conference?

Is this (http://www.sculpture.org/documents/programsandevents/conferences/seattle2007/aboutconference2007.shtml) it?

No mention of the lifetime achievement award. Who is it this year?
I was at the one in Houston about 5-6 years ago. Had a great time - spent some money, didn't really make any, saw Paley and Surls speak but Steve Tobin was my favorite.
Never been to Seattle - maybe I'll go - gotta convince the family its an important career move...the truck still needs tires.

Evaldart, driving all the way across the US from Massachusetts to Seattle?

How many days would this take you?

Dear Obseq,

The International Sculpture Center (ISC) has just opened registration for our next conference, Sculpture in Public: Sculpture Parks and Gardens Conference being held in Seattle, WA, Monday, October 15, 2007 - Wednesday, October 17, 2007. Inspired by the opening of the Olympic Sculpture Park, Sculpture in Public, Part I: Sculpture Parks and Gardens which will be a more focused program bringing together artists, arts administrators and advisors, curators, patrons, city arts commissioners, architects, city planners, and museum directors for dialogue and networking events focused on issues related to sculpture parks and gardens nationally and internationally, while incorporating many of the great art venues offered by Seattle and nearby Tacoma. This 2½ day conference will include: Key Note Address, Panel Discussions, Social Events, All Lunches, Gallery Walk, Optional Activities including visits to nearby sculpture sites, public art tours, corporate collection tours, and more! Registration is limited to 300 and we expect this to be a sell out event. An early bird discount is available to the first 100 people who register by August 15th! For more information or to register visit the ISC website at www.sculpture.org or email events@sculpture.org.

Additionally, we are planning our nextmembership conference for October 2-4, 2008 which will be held in Grand Rapids, MI at the Frederick Meijer Sculpture Park. More details about Sculpture in Public: Public Art will be announced over the coming months!

I just got the postcard for the 2008 conference with this month's Sculpture magazine. I'm very excited, and am glad that planning is being done far enough in advance for participants to likewise plan for it :)

Also, I've created a Facebook event for it (yes, I'm a Facebook addict):

I know this question is nearly two years old, but the Philly conference was in 1992 (from June 3-7).

Julianna, I'll have to check out your Facebook event!

Now, this means you're obligated to attend... ;)
Besides, it's not very far from you.

Haha. Yes, a Facebook promise is difficult to break! ;)

It's not very far from me at all. I could drive there in about 5 hours, plus however long it takes for me at the border.... plus however long I'm lost. Our local (tiny) airport actually has flights out there!
