undefinedI am looking for information about a piece of sculpture (statue) that I recently aquired. i would like to know more about the artist, the origin of the piece.

Sculpture poured in 1967 (somewhere in california, I believe)
Artist- Thomas Holland (1917-2004)
Subject- Nude woman
Size - 36" tall, 11" in diameter, about 44lbs.
identifying marks- marks on the top of the base - signature by artist "T. Holland" side of base in the back "Copyright Thomas Holland 1967", and what I believe to be a foundry mark "F23"

Please let me know if anyone out there knows anything about this. Thanks so much.

Have you done a search, say by Google at www.google.com on this ?

Here is a webpage (http://www.askart.com/askart/artist.aspx?artist=129896) about some auction records on the works of the artist.

This link (http://polobarn.com/profiles/memorials/thomasholland.html) is a virtual memorial talking about him as a sculptor and a polo player. Here below is an excerpt from this page.

As a sculptor, Thomas Holland achieved the greatest recognition for his heroic monument to the Pony Express which stands at the western terminus of the historic route in Sacramento, California. The fifteen-foot-high bronze statue was unveiled on June 4, 1976, in honor of the American Bicentennial.
