Hey there folks,

I found out recently, that I made it into Victor Issa's workshop "Creating Livng Bronze" next month at his studio in Colorado. It's a week long workshop that looks to be fairly intensive, so I'm pretty jazzed about it. The way I look at it, is after I get back, I should have a good understanding of where my true abilities lay. Hmmm....Ok...maybe I'm a bit nervous to find out.

I was just wondering if anyone had attended any of his workshops in the past and could pass on a little of what to expect.

Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Take care,

Will

I haven't been to one of his work shops, but I spoke with Mr. Issa a year or so ago. (Before I decided to go back to school) I was wanting to get some information from his company about the workshops, etc... I left a message with an employee and he ended up calling me himself. He was very generous with his time, talking with me for a while and even offered to give me a tour of his studio (if I came up to Loveland) and tell me everything I needed to know to get started as a sculptor.

To be honest I asked very little about the workshop and just talked to him about sculpture since he was so forth coming with advice. I know from this conversation that he delves into using measurements in working with the figure. I assume he uses a proportional system of 7.5 or 8 heads. It sounded like a very methodical approach to me.

I can't say much more than that, but I think it will be a very positive experience. He really seemed to be a great guy...one who wants to share his knowledge. I wouldn't be too nervous. I think you'll be in good hands.

Jason,

Thank you so much for responding! I greatly appreciate it.

Sounds like Victor is great guy along with being a great sculptor. Now, I'm really excited (and less nervous) about the workshop.

Best regards and thanks,

Will
