I'd like to say hello. I came across this forum in the course of my research on sculpture. I am just getting started with sculpting and initially plan on working with small pieces of cor-ten steel. In that vein might anyone be able to direct me to a good spot in the community for questions regarding the use and manipulation of cor-ten.
Thanks.
William

templar - Welcome. I'm sure you will get good references shortly. I mostly work with bronze. The older ISC Web forum, which currently is archived, has several good articles, but current members probably will give you more recent information, so I won’t post a reference for now.

Welcome Templar,

I am also entering sculpture in my own right as well. There are many talented people registered here from whom you will learn a great deal.

Looking forward to seeing your progress!

Take care

Hi William, I got your email - let me know if you want to make that change you mentioned. Welcome!

Corten was extremely popular in the 60's but has fallen out of favor with some sculptors, however it is still a viable material. Sometimes if you don't use special care in your welding you will create a condition that can cause the sculpture to rust excessively at the joints.
