The world is eagerly awaiting the new

Non-profit Swiss foundation called New7Wonders which specialises in the preservation, restoration and promotion of monuments, announced 21 finalists for the New Seven Wonders of the World. The results will be announced on July 7, 2007, in Lisbon. Besides the Pyramids of Giza, none of the seven ancient wonders of the world made it to the list

The first seven of the 21 Finalists are:
1. Taj Mahal, Agra, India
2. Acropolis, Athens, Greece
3. Alhambra, Granada, Spain
4. Angkor, Cambodia
5. Chichen Itza, Yucatan, Mexico
6. Christ Redeemer, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
7. Colosseum, Rome, Italy .....

I've always been in awe of what the ancients were able to achieve. Looks like only 3 of the 21 are sculpture (Liberty, Easter Island & Christ), while the rest are architecture. Of course, much of the architecture is enriched with sculpture.

Without googling, I was trying to come up with the original 7. Pyramids, Lighthouse at Alexandria, Colossus at Rhodes...? Who knows them all?

I notice the original online news article has by now been removed. Here is the website of the Swiss Foundation New7Wonders (http://www.new7wonders.com/index.php) organising the online voting of the new seven wonders. The 21 finalist new wonders for the voting is given there.
