I was alerted by a blogger of this California artist Ned Kahn and his fantastic kinetic 3D artworks. They are, as he said in his statement, a 'confluence of science and art'.

They are 'inspired by atmospheric physics, geology, astronomy and fluid motion', and 'enable viewers to observe and interact with natural processes'. They 'incorporate flowing water, fog, sand and light to create complex and continually changing systems'.

I am still going through and munching on the many unusual artworks shown in his website (http://nedkahn.com/statement.html), some with videos. They are very creative, and frankly speaking some are giving me new ideas.

Hope you'd also enjoy them.

I've always loved his work!! I did a research/presentation on him in college (about 12 years ago). We had to do it on an artist that inspired us. Very cool stuff! Thanks Merlion for bringing up.

Wow! Great stuff!

I am also a fan of the work of Keith Tyson - very much into the 'confluence' of art and science. See link (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/arts/2550233.stm).

neat. this lets nature /movements do the sculpting. I think the vortex peices capture the idea of the artist- capturing the beauty of nature by recreating the right circumstances.
