I'm worried about the endless grinding I do working with steel.

I use earplugs AND -28 ear muffs, but I can still hear a lot of noise.

Does anyone have any experience or thoughts on reducing the noise further? Like special plugs or something?

Or should what I do be enough to rule out hearing damage?

Araich,

If you can locate a top of the line hi-fi audio shop they should have great ear-plugs that eliminate the decibel level tremendously without sacrificing the integrity of the sound.

They are about $10-12 per pair--not your usual neon-colored foam plugs. :p

These are the type I own.

Hope this helps!

I have one of these:

Hard to say if the active component really works... In theory it should.

Having a knob for adjusting volume is quite convenient though.
