Hello you guys,
My name is Alfredo Alamo, originally from Venezuela but currently living in Tampa, Florida. Since I was a little kid the word creativity exploded in my mind. I remember that I always took the hard route to any single project that I needed to do, as long as it was a creative way to do it. Suddenly, I found my self immerse in a passion for creating pieces of art in metal, hobby that I could not materialize because a lack of resources and space. My background is in international business, and I have never taken a formal instruction in art. I was looking for art schools in my area where to go but I have not been able to find one. In any case I have to go back to school and start from scratch, but I cannot do that at the present moment. So, finally I bought a house that offers me a little space in my garage, and I am not going to waste this opportunity and I decided that I am going to start to extract dozens of designs that I have created in my mind for years and put them in metal. Since, I have had to teach myself I spend hours looking for information; and this includes asking questions to anybody willing to help me. One of them, Bettye, recommended me this forum and I decided to register and introduce myself. I am going to start making my first few pieces very soon, and as soon as I have the opportunity I am going to show them so you guys can “grade” them. Thank you for the opportunity that you guys offer in this forum, and I am looking forward to contact you guys. Thank you Bettye, I am already enjoying the forum.

amalgam - Welcome, and I hope you can get some work done and put up before too long. You’ll find lots of suggestions here already, and I’m sure people will be happy to offer more.

I suspect your journey is like that of many other artists. Not many people "choose" to be an artist, because success is so hit-or-miss, but many people find themselves doing it because they are following an inner need.

Keep us up to date with your progress.

Oh, I know how this feels....This is the biggest obstacle in my opinion.

Great to have you here.

Best of luck!:)

Hi Amalgam,
Your interest in visual arts , is simply great, and your friends recommendation ,is a right step towards the right direction.

What do you think about taking a refresher course or a part time training in sculpture area of your interest ,at least to make up for the lost formal art education...?

Whatever you decide, Pal, l wish you the very best, and above all ",WELCOME TO ISC"

Best regards , amalgam.
