Ok, we all love sculpture-otherwise we would not be part of this site...
But, there are parts of it that we hate!
Da Vinci said "sculpture is an art fit only for workmen..."
Personally I can't stand lifting stone (lifting anything is a real drag!) and also picking plaster out of Waste molds!
Whats' your most hateful job?

Trying to get someone to buy it so I can pay the bills. I hate the business part of it, and contracts, yuk, I hate that too. And making something I'm not passionate about, some client's vision because its a sale. But if it's what it takes to support what I love, (sculpting), then I'm doin it.

O.K., O.K., I know that's not what you meant, I guess I don't like lifting heavy things like big bags of clay, don't like sticking around to watch over a kiln. And I just made an owl sculpture bronze. Took me a good part of a year to sculpt all those feathers. Ya, I hate the monotany of texturing feathers. All said, I wouldn't have it any other way. ;)

I agree with hating lifting heavy things, but that's coming from a wee little girl. Luckily, being a wee little girl, there are usually guys around who are willing to help ;)

Aside from that, I dislike having to explain non-representational sculpture. Also, brusing myself with my hammer is never fun.

Of course its cleaning, organizing, arranging, sorting, classifying, grouping, sweeping, untangling,...but I also hate never ever being able to find anything (having to spark the torch with the welder because any striker I actually find is hopelessly crushed). A semblance of order is a redshifted hope.

There is nothing worse than record keeping and Income tax time!

I think the only thing I have hated was sandblasting a freshly poured / cooled bronze...I really hate sandblasting.... And then there was that time my boots caught on fire while I was standing on the waste pile hammering off the mold from a freshly poured bronze  ..... And of course I really hate it when a grinder with a diamond blade on it kicks back and slices flesh (let me count the scars... ).... Plus the "how long did it take you to make that" question followed by the inevitable second glance at the price card and the furrowed brow as the potential client trys to make some per-hour price calculation  (now I just say each piece is the culmination of a lifetime of experience...)... And the multiple times I've dropped a boulder on my foot, or hand, or fingers :( ....

Maybe we should ask what we like about this job... :)
