Does anyone know a shop producing slides from digital files in the DC area
I use these guys-
http://www.iprintfromhome.com/
you just email the images, and they send them to you.
Quick,easy, not too expensive.
In most major cities, there is one last fine photography processor hanging on, still doing this manually with a copy stand and a digital camera- but I am not convinced the quality is that much better.
Here in Seattle, for example, we have a place called Ivey Seawright that still will process those 4x5 postives, for the hardcore photo snobs.
Me, I am quite happy to switch more and more to digital.
If Taaschen ever decides to do a coffee table book on me, it will be after I am dead anyway, and they can take their own damn pictures.

There have been other threads on this too. You should be able to find a few other places if you search for "slides" and "digital"
In the future, please post requests for resources in the Community Help Centre section.
Thanks!

Hi,
There is a company in Rockville, MD that does just what you want. When I called and asked about digital to slides they said it was $7.50 each and about a week turnaround time, not including postal transit time. I can't put my hand on their name and number though. If I can find it I will post it for you.

If you have a decent computer monitor, you can always just shoot film slides of the screen-- just rotate vertical images and resize them to be the size of your screen (set zoom at 100%) with a black border, meter the exposure on a 50% grey slide (manual focus and aperature), with the shutter over 1 sec (so that you even out the screen flicker). With a decent monitor, they'll be about as good as digital to film processing, and a heck of a lot cheaper.
