Hello everybody out there ! ;)
I have this sculpture of dear old Daphne and I really don't know nothing about her. There is no signature or anything like that. All I know is that Daphne is about 100 year old sculpture ..
Herewith I'm sending some pictures of Her.
Can you please tell me something about the sculpture. The style, craftmenship, how much can she be worth, who can be the master builder, etc.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH !! :D

I have to admit this one leaves me more or less lost. A bit like some late 1870's - 1880's or so British work intended to give French and Bavarian porcelain sculptors a run for their money, but probably not British in the end. Neither French nor Bavarian seems right either. You say about 100 years old, so that would be later than the time period I named in any case. A date around 1900 would alter my choice to somewhere east of Germany (Bavaria, Saxony and smaller states at that time), but I can't say where.
I know little of East European works at that date. Dresden, of course, comes to mind for ceramic work, but possibly also Russia? It doesn't seem Faberge school to me. I'm just feeling for general influences here. I'll be interested in other comments myself.

You are welcome, but I saw after my post that you put the same message in three places on the forum here. We ask that messages be posted only once, partly to keep answers together. That is best for you and also for us. All suggestions or answers will be in one place.
Often people using this group the first time don't know this, so I am not protesting, but hoping to help everyone who sees this. Hope you get more answers.

I saw this portrait while I was visiting Museum d'Orsay, Paris. It is a tinted marble bust, 'Sarah Bernhardt' by Jean-Leon Gerome (1824-1904). It seems to be of similar style and material, although not close.

Fritchie: Skydiver's posting is a proper enquiry about a sculpture. But this Folder is about 'Sculpture News and Events'. It is of course not the right place for the enquiry. Can this thread be transferred.
