Hello,
My name is Carol and I am new to the forum and looking foward to learning and sharing with other artists. I have been sculpting for only 3 years, never thought I would be called an artist. I am Haida first nations, from the west coast of British Columbia. I love the art world!! I have been marketing my art mostly from my web site for the past 2 years. Looking forward to being a member of this forum.

Welcome. Where you live as as close to paradise as I've been. And I very much appreciate your heritage of Haida and other northwest Coastal Art; though I've seen it mostly in museums and books. Do you work in traditional styles and materials? I look forward to seeing some of your work on these threads.

Carol, eaglewoman - Welcome! And, please add your web address so we can get a first-hand look. I’m afraid I have to admit ignorance of the name Haida, but probably some of the art is present here in New Orleans. Victor Kiam, a wealthy New Orleans businessman, left a prominent collection of native art from many regions of the world to the New Orleans Museum of Art when he died some twenty or so years ago. I know a significant portion is from the Northwest U. S. I’ll have to do a little web-learning.

Carol - Apologies for my ignorance. The Web is full of references to Haida culture and art. And apologies also for the reference to the northwest U. S. You clearly said you are from B. C. The native cultures of the northwestern U. S. and Canadian coasts seem to have art that is so similar overall, I tend to think of them as one. Hopefully I’m not putting my foot in my mouth again, here.
The Kiam collection at NOMA certainly does include works similar to Kaida images I found on the Web. Please do give us your web address, or post pictures directly here, if you wish.

Thanks for the clue about web address, Araich. Maybe because I don't have a web page of my own, I never noticed the WWW button before.
Carol, Excellent website and excellent work! You use an amazing variety of techniques.
