A great deal of the answer lies in getting paint to stick to the resin. Plastic of any kind is difficult to get paint to stick to.

Powder coating is one technique I am aware of. This is done before pouring the resin in your mold. The inside of the mold is dusted with some sort of powder. Ceramic microspheres perhaps.

Use bullfrog ( a plastic paint prep - spray on) then depending on color, automotive primer first, then auto enamel, highest uv protection. test all materials first. ( Get at automotive paint distributors ( where body shops go to get supplies)
