Hola a todos!!
Hi all. First, Congratulations for this forum. Is great to share opinions with other sculptors of different parts of the world.
I'm an sculptor from Argentina. I live there from 21 years. Now I'm 22 years old, and I move to Madrid to finish my university study (computer engeniering). I never studied art. When I was a kid, I started drowing and now and then I began to make my own works in clay. At the age of 14 yo I learn some technics to modelling in clay with a Argentinian local Sculptor. I maked sculptures as a hobbie. At the age of 16, in my first exposition, I won an award and after that my life change. I hope to be an sculptor, to work as a sculptor professionaly. But my parents donīt like the idea. So I starting studing at the university, computer ingeniering. I like computers and techologies, but I'll be happier working as a sculptor because is my life.
Now, I'd like to move to Los Angeles California and start to work as a sculptor.
I'd like to form or to be a part of a sculptor workgroup and do any proyect.
I'd like too, if anybody can tell me the possibilities to an artist in California, if there are residenses, studios, workshops, etc.

Contact with me if you like to form any group and start this adventure.

I attached some files of my work and a self-pic.

Welcome. That is some fine work. If you have a fast internet connection I suspect you will be able to sift out a lot of the information you need online. There is a free version of the professional Internet meta-search software called Coppernic at www.coppernic.com that is very powerfull and works in multiple languages and isolates countries.

Often the best info I get out of town here stateside is by calling the local public libraries in the area I am interested in. Asking for the reference desk. If you tell them what you want and are interested in finding out and schedule to call back and receive the information a day later they will often take pride in finding as much as they can for you.

Also there are such things as internet only telephone services that you can call through your computer using a microphone and headphones, this can save on phone expences. Of course if you are using an Internet cafe that might shoot that idea down.

Remember too that calling info sources about a month later at a different time of the day and location will get you different reference person. The same question often brings quite different results. Good luck. I hope to see you post often. Also consider San Fransisco CA USA as a location. I have heard good things from several different kinds of artist about that area.

Good Luck.

Let me clearify my first statement. Your sculptures are VERY strong. Not only is there dignity in them but a sense of innate motion or change. This is all very good things. Keep up the good work.

Thanks Stephen for your information. Using coppernic is a good idea to find what you want. I'm in contact with some sculptors from California, the idea to open a studio is great. But is not very easy, first I have to find sculptors in the area to join us, and find information about other thinks envolving the management of the studio for example, etc. But is easier if we are a group and all have the same expectations.

Are u from los angeles?

Muchas Gracias
