Hello,
I'm working on a life-size cow and already have the complete form made out of forton mg. I wanted to make the utters of latex and connect it later, but now i am at a loss for what is the best way to do it. (See pictures below if my description is lacking)

Essentially, to get the utters where i want them to be there will be almost no gap at one end of the utters and anywhere from a 10-inch to a foot gap on the other end.

I am seeking advice on 1) what application would be the most realistic looking and 2) what medium would be best to do it.

I was thinking of tying the utters on by means of a string so they would hang where i want them to and then i could use plaster bandages to connect them to the body of the cow and snip the string after the bandages dry.

At which point i would cover bandages with forton in some places/latex in others (depending on asthetics).

I am concerned about whether this will make for an unnatural looking connection, or whether the bandages will even be able to hold onto the latex long enough to apply the forton over them.

Sorry for the longwinded post. Here are some (bad) photos. The utters look small in the photos, but they are an ok size in person. yes, i have some sanding to do.

Thanks for all help!

I think you need to post a similar picture of the bovine for reference. Hard to call otherwise.

Have you thought of embedding nut plates in the cow body, then using screws, you could attach the latex utter on the edges to these nut plates. To avoid an uneven pull at the attachment points use another piece of metal or plastic to span the distance between mounting points. Then you could cover this with more of the Forton mg to hide all the hardware.

That sort of what I was thinking-- some sort of gasket that covered the edges of the latex & bridged the gap. But reference photos for accuracy are imperative.

Sorry I can't offer a solution, but will merely note--at the risk of sounding pedantic--the word is udders. Good luck with attaching them.:)

It would be utterly fascinating to hear udders uttering utterances utterly. We can always hope. Who knows what global warming might cause. Moo!:)

buttered udder utterances... less chafing? Anyway, there's more than one way to skin a cow, but we need the facts.
