If you were going to attach shiny foil paper, such as some candies are wrapped in, to a fairly smooth, unsealed plaster form, what permanent adhesive would you use? Short of epoxy that is.
Many thanks, Lou.

Lou, if its very this foil paper, such as the wrappers from a Hershey's kiss, I would first seal the plaster with a shellac or acrylic and then use a spray mount. Believe it or not, my favorite is the Elmers brand...its more versatile than the photo-mounts. Press or roll it on after. Well, thats how I would do it.

You could probably do it in one step by using the spray adhesive dry wall guys use to mount plastic corner beads to dry wall corners. But sealing it first like Evaldart suggested would be fool proof. Stuff is available at Homey Despot by the dry wall stuff. Industrial strength double stick tape could be used too. Not sure that epoxy would do well on foil.

the spray on drywall stuff does have to be primed first or it won't stick

why not the sizing they use for doing gold leafing?

a thin foil is still much thicker than a leaf, but a sizing is still ideal. A primer is still beneficial though. just a qiuck dry spray is fine, like for auto body work. I've used 3M super 77 too if it was a quicky job.

The sizing now used with the leaf for arts and crafts is a slow drying high tack acrylic glue. it would work. But check this site out as you can get the patent leaf sheets cheap and at any better arts and crafts stores. or the big box types craft stores. or on line.
