Check out plastiline clays like those at www.chavant.com their are many other firms as well.

You want to buy small sample globs of clay after checking out the info on line or at a supplier. Pick the clay that feels right and works with the mold making material you plan to use (this is mainly an issue of sulphur or nonsulphr based clays - a fading issue with the new rubbers).

I use a half dozen different clays depending on what I'm doing.

good luck with this important choice.

Thank you. I had been there, and saw your Sam Livingston scupture in their gallery. I do plan on getting some smaples from them. It is an important choice, that is why I have decided to rethink my materials. The end product has changed so the logical thing was to rething the early product as well. It looks like pewter for the final chess set.

Again, thank you.
