Hey! For those of you who might be in the Tulsa area, there is a really nice show of Stone's woodcarvings at the Gilcrease Museum. There are around a hundred pieces I think, so lots to look at. His religous and political ones could have been carved in reponse to world events today, instead of the Vietnam War Cold war eras. But what brought tears to my eyes were his family and faith centered pieces. Hope faith and love endure also, he expesses this in a timeless manner. In my opinion. The nature themed pieces and animal are so simply done, yet capture the very essence of the creature or what it is up to.He's home-grown, maybe that's why there isn't much on the internet about him or his work, and Indian has maybe caused him to be somewhat overlooked? Don't know about that, but if you are in the area, I considered the most moving art I've seen in a long time.
