I'm having a heck of a time teaching myself how to cast paper-weight sized models. I've read some books and looked around online, but what I need is for someone with more experience to look at what I'm doing and tell me what I'm doing wrong (and show me how to do it right).
I've been making open-face molds with Rebound 25, pouring Smooth Cast 321 into the mold. That works fine, but of course the underside is unfinished and looks lousy. I've tried making a two-part mold with a flap over the belly, but often air pockets form (even with sprew opening cut into the mold) or the seam between the two mold parts looks lousy.
So I need some advice. Anyone on the west side of LA? How much should an hour of someone's time cost?
