As a sculptor I suppliment my income by providing short courses in sculpting stone. Whilst trying to find ways of getting poeple online interested I realised that there was a call for something that brought all the non-acedemic art and creative course providers together in a single easily searcheable website. One place where anyone wanting this kind out creative outlet would go to find what they needed or get inspired to go on a course.

After 8 months from this intial thought we are nearly ready with the website.

So what do I need help with?

If you run a course or attend courses we would really appreciate frank and honest input into how the site functions for you. What's good what's bad, what was easy what was difficult...?.

We are currently asking people to register an interest at http://www.artsbowl.com (http://www.artsbowl.com/) so we can let you know as soon as we are live with the beta site. In return during this test phase you will be getting free online exposure for your course. We are very excited about the website and are sure you will benefit.

I look forward to hearing your responses and opinions.

regards

Dan

Cool idea. I like your setup , tabs & all.
I do see that you still need a bit of proofreading.

Yes, a useful idea.

It will be interesting to see how you propose to categorise courses.

Query: what's in it for the web team? What's your agenda?

The taxonomy for the site is taking some working out. I also want visitors to be able to suggest additional categories if they can't find an appropriate one for their creative course.

During the beta phase there will be no charge at all to anyone and the site will be functioning live online so anyone registered as a course provider will get this benefit completely free for a time and may wish to opt for the free service level after that.

Are you still running your courses? Please feel free to join us if you are.

It will be good to see how this develops.

I still run courses on abstract carving for beginners, with extra courses on relief carving and working with marble. But I have more students than I have time, so more publicity is not what I need. Actually, I'm currently looking for an old barn/outbuilding in Devon (Beaworthy area) in order that I can teach a lot of people there who are eager to learn. Now, if you are running a 'Sculptors who need barns' service, I'm in....

The site will also be about building an online community for people who go on courses to share their experiences and work with each other aswell as a way to interact with the course providers. We will also be adding more usefull funcationality as the website grows.
