How do you guys do it? I am exhausted, emotionally and physically after every piece of work that I make and 3 years into this wonderful work I'm feeling a bit weak at the knees! We begin with wonderful ideas and thoughtful concepts and then after much planning and modelling we transfer the idea into 3 dimensions. A unique piece of work is created - wonderful, love the life and at this point I just want to lie somewhere and bask in the feeling of creation. Then I remember I have to make the plinth and also the bloody box to transport it in and/or present it to a client. Next there are the photos, the equipment needed for studio and outdoor shots, the photoediting (I'm still struggling with photoshop!), the printing, the publicity, the design of your website, your business cards, the organisation of the next exhibition and the total drain on your finances.
but... I've had the best three years of my life and want to hold on to this incredible life for as long as I can. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Use up all the energy within the creative act. ALL that other stuff can happen during the recovery time. Photography, clients and general organizing is just busy work...non-depleting. Eat your meat and go all-out DURING the Art. The before and after take care of themselves...fueled by mere breathing.

But, isn't that the same with everything that we do. The total time that it takes you to complete the task is only a small part of the whole process. If you think of it as a single task and realize that it all needs to be done, then there are multiple points of accomplishment to the whole thing. But, 'that feeling' that I get when I have 'finished' the actual piece is far different from any other. That is what we all strive for.

Well luckily you are in good company, just take a look at this self portrait of Michelangelo in his "Last Judgment" at the Vatican. We can assume he wanted to communicate the same message to us as you are offering.
