Hi all.
I'm Keith Bentley and work as a registrar for a pretty predominant Canadian gallery based in Toronto. Although I deal in photography, my love is sculpture and multi media installation.
With any luck, one of these days I'll be able to end my 'day job' and focus more on my work - enough of rep'ing other artists!
A self taught artist, I sculpt mostly with found objects and have been having a love affair with taxidermy maniquins for the past ten years. I also use a lot hair, resin, wood...whatever happens to come my way.
After eight years I finished (finally) my first MAJOR piece and am now focused on supportivework - although the new things are not quite as 'heavy' (both weight and politically) I am having a ball.

This web site is wonderful and I am loving every minute it. I thank you all in advance for your advice, thoughts, and knowledge.

Cheers!

Welcome, Keith. I think it's funny that you think of hair as something that just comes your way. But those of us who work in other media will hopefully post things that are meaningful to you.
Let us know how things go with your 8 year piece.
JAZ

Hi, Keith. I've been away for awhile, but let me add my welcome. I hope I'm not being impertinent, but your reference to "taxidermy maniquins" makes me shudder a bit. I hope these are animals. On the other hand, installations of all sorts are significant these days, and can be excellent. Good luck with your interests!
