I am almost done installing the pieces for my show this month. Here are a few quick images. The lighting has not been adjusted yet, so the pictures are not that good. The sculptures are all made up of multiple segements of stoneware clay, assembled at the gallery.
For you Kansas City people, It is at the Lynn Foundation Gallery, 5 west 19th St, KCMO (in the basement below Blue Gallery and Zin resturant)

Congrats, kaidu. Take some pics at the opening so we can see the interaction of people with the works. I think that would help me to better understand their scale and complexity.

I plan on taking lots of pictures tonight. I have a friend who is a photographer that is go to shoot some slides of each sculpture, sometime next week. I think that she is bringing a camera tonight as well. I will get some more digital images as well, so I can post them here. Yesterday, I completed three more pieces that I have not photographed yet. I am getting pretty excited (and scared) since this is the first time I have shown much of this work.
You are certainly pushing the possibilities of the medium. The complex and seemingly precarious arrangement reminds me of society today - fragmentary, busy and teetering in spite of its stable base.
Also, the texture and hardness of stoneware makes thoughts of the assembly of these audible with grating, like stone rubbing upon stone.

You hit a number of things right on the mark with these comments.
The opening was great. We had a huge crowd through the gallery and I generated several solid leads. In addition to several possible sales, I have one definite collaboration in the works, with an artist who works with neon lights. I also had another person who was very enthusiastic about my work and wants to find some way to work it into his business as lighting or fountains.
Here are some images from last night.

kaidu - Congratulations on the opening and these new pieces! And I’m glad to see small pieces as well as the very large ones. This is a good practical introduction for all relatively new artists. No matter your possible preference for large works, small ones are more affordable and a good way for both you and the gallery to meet a larger public.
