Scarlet red for bronze

I want to colour a small piece of my sculpture scarlet red and donít think itís possible with
chemical patinas. Any suggestions on what paint to use?

A red chemical patina is quite difficult on copper alloys. I have used pigments with good success. All of the artists' paint makers, such as Liquitex or Golden, make water based acrylic mediums. Some are thin and watery and some are thick and paste like. I mix either a compatible paint, or use a pigment. There are a gillion pigments available; some are metallic. I use this over a base coat chemical patina, usually Birchwood-Casey Brass Black, or liver of sulfur.

This is all for indoor work. Outside in the sun it is not going to hold up.

Dries,

The Science Company company offers a decent "recipe" list on their website:

Dries, try sodium nitrite 2/g(L) and ferric nitrate 2/g(L) mix solution. Spray the solution to bronze casting, heat it to 74 degree Celsius for a few minutes.
