History of Sculpture text?

I'm in the process of developing a intro level sculpture course. Because of limited hardware availability, this will be low tech, wire, plaster, cardboard, etc. I'm looking for a text that will give the beginning student a overview of the history of sculpture. I'm not interested in a how to book heavy on techniques that they won't be able to attempt with commonly available tools and materials.
Thanks!

Re: History of Sculpture text?

Off hand I can't think of an introductory textbook on the history of sculpture.

If you are interested, this one can be a good introductory textbook on the techniques of sculpture, with a chapter showing pictures of great sculptures.

Louis Slobodkin, Sculpture: Principles and Practice, Dover Publications, New York. Amazon price for a new paperback is $9.72. Further details here.
