You should have a few beers with evaldart and start singing " The Anvil Chorus" together.

IA,You MUST make the sculptor's pilgrimage to Storm King Art center in Harriman. Bring your lunch. All the other stuff in Manhattan will just suppliment this experience.
Avoid the parkways with you trailer lest you get a healthy ticket.

I wont be around there this weekend, but my favorite bar is Smiths on 44th and 8th (and they've got a great pastrami with gravy too).

Hey Ant,
Good luck with the install. I'm not far away if you need an extra pair of hands. Pound Ridge is just a stone's throw away from the Katonah Museum of Art, a very small but significant museum which shows a fair amount of contemporary work. Might be a good place to present your work as well. I ditto the thoughts on visiting Storm King Art Center. Might be more bang for your buck than anything going on in the city right now, plus quicker to get back on the road from there. I'm in Beacon NY, home of the DIA Art Center/Riggio Galleries which features large minimalist works by Serra, Judd, Heizer, Nauman, Flavin and the like. Will send a PM with my contact info.

Re: ants invade NY

Hey,thanks for the info, storm king is where I will check out.EJB,I would take ya up on that help, but I found out I have to be there at 9,fixin to head out.but I will also check out your places if I can.I got to George washington Bridge
at 6;30 pm,abd it took 3.5 hrs to go 40 miles to Norwalk,CT,where I can cut straight up to pound ridge, what a nightmare of cars, bad air,and people without smiles.Today it is raining,of course,so I hope to catch a little break.Thoughts of driving into the city have vanished.Hey ev I would check out your pub,but I retired from drinking on newyears day,I would be to tempted, but never say never.Sorry Joe no real ants, but I am doing a 12 foot steel american Indian, which I have to be back in Ga next week to do my
public display of the model to get my GA council of the arts grant.Ill be back though.....IA

Re: ants invade NY

Hey it was really cool to meet someone from the site,as I stopped by to see Ed,aka EJB.he does really interesting fun work, and will eventually have quite a unique thing going north of the big city.I weasled in storm king, trailor and all. They where not going to let me in,and it was a little late in the day,but when they herd I had drove from GA,they let me slip in,and they did not even charge me.Amazing, but I will have to return to see the other 400 acers.I have new restpect for work I have only seen in print.I would have loved to walk around in the full moon last night, but that would have been pushing it.I hope to make it back home between 10 to 1 am tonite, somewhere way down in Penn. Thanks again ED,and I hope to visit again...IA

Re: ants invade NY

IA,
Good to meet you too. Glad you made it to Storm King if even for a little while. Easy to spend a whole day there. Also glad you were able to stop in for a quick hello. I know how even the smallest detour can affect the road trip schedule so I appreciate the effort. Give a holler next time you're through again and we'll give you the grand tour. Hope you made it home alright.
