an interesting case- he is an artist who basically stopped making music in the 90's.
I find that in any field of art, persistence matters just as much as talent- and if you dont make anything, it doesnt matter how great you are.

lots of people fall by the wayside and give up along the way- its only the truly committed, crazy, or just dumb ones among us who just keep slogging along, making art, regardless of whether anybody else cares- and thems the ones who are actually artists...

I agree that it cant matter whether or not anyone else cares, Ries,...but "slogging along" is no way to go about it. Art never occurs by the hand of a lazy or lackadaisical effort. I prefer the word perseverance to persistence (because "enduring" is built into all animals...nothing special there).
