Suggestions or advice on painting plaster
Sculpted GIANT teacup is finished and ready for painting.
It's had a couple of coats of One Coat plaster and a top layer of pink. If anyone could advise on the best method I would be very grateful ! )Ideally needs to be weatherproof for a short time/few days as its going to be on display in a show Garden here in the UK and our weather is rubbish at the moment. ![]() |

Re: Suggestions or advice on painting plaster
The problem with painting plaster is that it tends to suck the solvents out of the paint before it has a chance to form a film. To combat this, prime it with shellac first, using a first coat diluted with alcohol to half-strength and letting it soak in, and a subsequent coat that's full-strength.

Re: Suggestions or advice on painting plaster
Hi
I have found that the shellac coats are very important and will protect the plaster from water to a certain extent, then I have used acrylic paint quite successfully. However, outside in the weather (especially in England) it will only last for a while before the plaster starts to deteriorate. Blake
