Moulage moldmaking

I thought somewone might be interested in my Moulage experiment.

The photo shows the results

The image on the left is the Chavant NSP clay model

The image in the middle is the Moluage block type mold made over the model

The image on the right is the Willow Mist wax cast in the moulage mold

Moulage is a lot like alginate but it's much less expensive. It's also reusable up to 100 times and it's non-toxic.

Looks like a great way to teach a class on moldmaking. Sculpt a Plasticine model Paint on the Moulage and than paint on some wax as a mothermold. Than cast some wax in the mold. Start to finnish in less than an hour and all the materials are reusable.
The next thing I'm going to try is casting some Plaster in the Moulage mold.

Is the use of wax rather than plaster as a mother mold material by capricious choice, because it was near at hand, or due to the properties of moulage?

Sorry about the short answer my computer is messed up.
The idea is I have a limited budjet and limited storage space so everything I use must be reusable{plaster isn't}

neat, i didnt know they still made it, i used it for lifecasting in the 80's.

i think i need to get some for my job to keep around for quick molds, does it inhibit platinum silicones?

Great, thanks for posting this! I hadn't heard of this material before. I'll definitely get some to try out. So often I have to make just one or two quick copies of something for some project, and I hate having to use silicone. Seems like such a waste tossing it into the dumpster afterwards. This stuff can just be saved for the next time around.
