Chasing and Repousse with Charles Lewton-Brain

Grab a front-row seat for a rare chance to have face time with the well-known artist and educator Charles Lewton-Brain, July 30-August 1, 2010, at the Center for Metal Arts 1 hour north of NYC. This Chasing and Repousse Seminar will be three full days of information and demonstrations of tooling and techniques in a small group setting. Look up Lewton-Brainís resources on www.brainpress.com for a preview of the valuable information he brings to this seminar.

Hereís a sampling of the workshop topics: European, North American and Asian chasing techniques, steel theory and tool making, hammer design, alteration options and use, pitch making and its control. Concrete pitchbowls, tool types include forming, planishing, lining, veining, gadrooning, matting, side/set down, pearl punches, stamps, chain and pattern. Iintroduction to European and Asian chisel work. Cloth area inlay on steel. Control factors. All in all, an informative and in-depth exposure to the plastic world of metal chasing.

As an appetizer to this full-course workshop, take the tour of Lewton-Brain'sí studies with a repousse master in Thailand at http://charlessgallery.fotopic.net/c1466832.html

Charles Lewton-Brain pioneered the fold-form technique of working with sheet material, and he is an innovative pioneer of creative ways to work with the materials at hand. For more information, go to the seminar site at www.centerformetalarts.com. Email or call--we'll gladly answer questions.
