Smile Hello

Good morning everyone...
I am Gary from Plano, TX.
I have had a creative streak in me since I was very little and have not followed up with any formal classes to hone those passions.
I am currently in a Art Appreciation class and the fire has been re-ignited within me to get my hands on trying to sculpt.
I do have a project - sculpting a Styrofoam head and I do need some advice on how to do this.

Re: Hello

hot wire, sureform rasp, what ever you can use as a tool that works. There is a certian hard dense foam for this purpose too.Want to get high tech and there are guys in California that can cd sacan and mill foam into anything. Some realalistic sculptors have there figures scaned and milled, then they only have to "skin" it with clay or plastiline.I believe a full figure will run around 5 g..IA

Re: Hello

you can make your own bodies of "styrofoam" with cans of spray insulation...low-quality and a rough cut (I use razor-blades and long kitchen knives), but there are ways of making it look good in the end (another process). Plus you have some control over the shape of your workpiece...can save labor, waste/ material.

Re: Hello

Hi Q-tip.
You can get some pointers by going to the top of this page to the "search" button. Try foam or polystyrene, or whatever you can think of that relates to what you want to know about. This way you will find links to discussions about your topic.
Good luck.
