Artist vaporised by large sheet of mirror polished stainless steel

I have to laugh at myself. I finally got some 4X10 sheets of mirror polished stainless delivered. I peeled off about half of the plastic covering on one sheet and was busy cutting out some pieces when I suddenly started getting hot. Not my normal light my pants on fire while welding hot but still weirdly warm. The sheet was slightly concave on my makeshift outside cutting table and the sun was just right to reflect and concentrate on my upper body. I guess I will have to erect my canopy from markets to shield the sun.

Re: Artist vaporised by large sheet of mirror polished stainless steel

I've read about highly reflective buildings doing that - there's one in London they call the "Fryscraper" - apparently its south facing concave facade creates a moving hot-spot that has melted cars and done other damage: http://news.nationalpost.com/2013/09...-cooking-eggs/

So be careful how you use that big piece of stainless...
