Re: what is the name of this sculpture...?

it has to be some famous dead guy. that thing is really cool, and i'm not normally drawn to figurative work. i think we should call it "oh god the condom broke" until we're proven otherwise.

i hope that wasn't too over the top for this forum.

Re: what is the name of this sculpture...?

Good comments, Jason. On the original question, I'll have to fish around a bit. It's unlikely to be a specific person, unless a demigod, and I suspect it's from the general European Renaissance or more likely the New Sculpture movement of the late 1800's. Probably Italian, Dutch, or British, possibly German.

The background suggests to me a "palace" or wealthy home museum in one of those locations, rather than a church. I do hope someone can come up with a complete answer. It's a fine piece.

this is seriously a cool piece, i'm curious about who did it too. the proportions seem perfect to my untrained eye.

Re: what is the name of this sculpture...?

It is a very lovely piece of work.

About the origin of the work, this is the site where the picture is located. Who can read German?

Klassische Hom÷opathie

Online translation of the main text of the page gives me this:

By recognizing the personality to the holistic therapy acute and chronic illnesses - Perturbative field diagnostics, Aurikulomedizin

Edit: Apparently a Dr Seidlhofer of Saltzburg makes use of this picture to illustrate his medical/physological treatment metnod. So the best way to find out the origin of the sculpture is to ask this Doc. His email is given at the page.

Thanks for this reference, Merlion. The title is Classical Homeopathy, and the general theme seems to be that all illnesses contain their own cures, if they can be found.
