Public is Asked Where Should the Statue Go

It is a good idea to get the public's view on whether to move this statue and if so where it would go. A better view of the statue is in the link futher below.

Where should this statue go?

May 17, 2008. A STATUE commemorating shipyard workers could be moved from Barrow’s main shopping street.

The public will get the chance to have their say on plans to relocate the Spirit of Barrow from Dalton Road.

No new location has been proposed, and moving the statue is just one option put forward by Cumbria County Council under plans to regenerate Dalton Road.

“We want to hear from businesses and residents on whether they want to keep the statue in its current position, or find a new location for the existing statue and put a new structure on that site.” ...

County council spokesman Justin Hawkins said: “The site where the statue is forms part of the public consultation that we are launching. ...

Re: Public is Asked Where Should the Statue Go

barrow in furness is a proud northern ship building town, since this is a declining art in the uk its probably safest to ask the public or get lynched. jobs are lost but the people get sculpture to say how wonderful they and their ancesters are,..oh and 'consultations' [this in uk 'govtalk' means ask the public, ignore the public and put it where we want to] that'll distract 'em.

on the statue we can see 'courage' and 'labour' i wondered if the other two might be forbearance and exploitation.....
so would add 'why do public sculptures pander to the 'great' often mythical human/chimp traits', life is far more compex and celebratable, even exciting....

Have these qualities been lost in this age of stupidity to " whining " and "loafing"?

Workers of the world, unite and support your local demagogue elitists who offer you victimhood and a sense of entitlement, promising to free you from "exploitation" in exchange for your power given over to them.

so would add 'why do public sculptures pander to the 'great' often mythical human/chimp traits',

If courage and labor have merely become myths, we are in serious trouble!

life is far more compex and celebratable, even exciting....
So, celebrate in excitement. Don't waste your time knocking virtue.

America too!
Everything is run on STOCK MARKET exchanges now. Accept China of course.
They are buying up all our scrap metal like its the first time they ever ate candy.
People over here are going NUTS getting as much scrap as they can and taking it to the scrap yards for like $3.9 a lb. or something crazy like that.
I cannot find a single thing to work with now. China is using this scrap to make all our goods to come right back at us. We have all become lazy pigs it seems.
I wish America would stop all this outsourcing and go back to the good ole days where we made our own goods, ate from our own farms near by and created our own fuels and all that. Then the sculpture would still stand true. Then we would not need other countries to work for us. Very sad I think.
