From the Middle, Owl
I'm doin' a new lost wax bronze from a model that is in wood, bone, and glass marbles. Since the model is ridged the molds were done in the inverse of the traditional way. I first covered the object in saran wrap, and then embedded it in oil-based clay. The mother or shell molds were done with a funnel at the top.
Once the plaster had cured for several hours, they were taken apart, the clay and saran wrap removed. The Owl was then repositioned inside the plaster molds. The molds were sealed with clay, and the rubber was poured in the cavity between the plaster, coated with vegetable oil as a mold release, and the wooden model, well waxed with butchers wax as a mold release. Once the rubber wad cured for 24 hours, the plaster was opened, the rubber cut, and the wooden model removed. Then begins the real work, the waxes, the gating, the ceramic, the molten bronze, and the Bird at last. Over the next few days I'll post the appropriate photos and answer questions and comments if any. Robert Robert

Re: From the Middle, Owl
I opted for the classical livers of sulfur, cold, and a hot wax after. When in doubt the Classics always work
