> "Between Brothers" (Israel/The Netherlads) - Exhibition Opening
>
> Ravit Cohen-Gat and Orit Hasson-Welder, two female artists from Tel Aviv, will present works that examine the broad term of "family" through the relationships between brothers.

> In spite of the two stormy years of Intifada in Israel, the artists have chosen to focus and deal with the personal and its impact on the communal.

> The photographs document community installation projects, working with group of brothers (and sisters) who define their identity through a collection of private belongings. Through those, the entirety of the conflicted and complex reality in Israel is revealed: New immigrants vs. old
ones, Jews vs. Arabs, Foreign workers and others.

> Following this community project, Cohen-Gat and Hasson-Welder turned to
deal with their own place in relation to the "Family".

> Orit, whose family originates from Iraq, went eight generations back, to
her orthodox roots, which sprouted a vast variety of family interpretations.
Ravit, whose brother died in The Lebanon War, exposed the powerful dynamics
between the women in her greater family, clinging to each other.

> "Between Brothers" is an accumulative exhibition that started in two cities in Israel and will wander between six other cities, growing from place to place. In the last few weeks the artists have been working with
families in Amsterdam, and the result will be added to the on-going project.
