Needles...

Here are some pics of a new commissioned piece I installed today. It is called 'Needles' and is made of painted steel and bronze on a blue hardstone base. Dimensions: 50cm x 50cm x 250cm tall (including the base). That's 20 inches x 20 inches x 8 feet 4 inches.

Nice piece, NB. I like both the form and the colors. Use of both steel and bronze, with varied colors like this, gives you quite a palette, and I like your restrained use. A process like this easily could get out of control.

Interesting mix of geometric forms with freer shapes. The needles seem also to refer to schissors in a way since they are long and pointy and linked yet independent. The sculpture fits the site very well. (Or the site fits the sculpture very well!)
