Life casting in LA
I work in movies in Los Angeles and I'm looking for someone who can teach me what I need to know to make professional quality molds and life casts. I have some experience, self taught, and my portfolio of pieces I've worked on can be seen at www.bjwinslow.com . If you need an assistant, I'm your man. Also, being tied into the film and television business I get calls for these types of things all the time and can, if you're interested, help you get work.

Re: Life casting in LA
Hi BJ,
I, too, live in Los Angeles! Seeing as you already have experience with casting, I think adding life-casting won't be a problem for you. The best materials for life-casts are dental alganate, (delayed set time), plaster, petroleum jelly, and a high-speed mixer. |

Re: Life casting in LA
Or Moulage, which is made especially for lifecasting, though it's probably more expensive. http://www.artmolds.com/product_deta..._name=Alginate
For a "discount" price of $69 (get a load of the price label on the bag in the photo!), try: http://www.wyndhamartsupplies.com/is...wse&cat_id=828 Gary Last edited by GaryR52 : 07-03-2005 at 12:35 PM. |

Re: Life casting anywhere
You can probably find anything and everything you need at Pink House Studios,
including materials, how to videos and expert advice from a master of the craft. Mark Prent is an exceptional artist, has done many life casting workshops which generously share his applied skills and he is a genuinely nice guy. |
