Entered Intersculpt
Well, I just sent off my entry for Intersculpt 2005, the international competition for digital sculpture sponsored by Ars Mathematica, of Paris, France. If all goes well, I will at least be part of an exhibition that will travel throughout the rest of 2005 and part of 2006 in Paris, Nancy (France), Manchester (England), Amsterdam, New York, Cincinatti, New Orleans, Tempe (Arizona), Kanpur (India), Singapore and Sydney.
As my entry, I've chosen my "Twisted Form." It is entered in the competition for digital sculpture that can be produced via rapid prototyping and, if it wins, it will be produced. Good thing, if it does, because the cost of doing so, according to American Precision Prototyping is going to be in the neighborhood of $2,824 just to make a thermojet wax pattern! Gary |

Re: Entered Intersculpt
How big will $2,824 make this form?

Re: Entered Intersculpt
"Big" is definitely not the right word, Fused.
![]() Try 10.5" x 9.7" x 8.5". If I tried to sell my handmade sculptures at that size, I'd probably be lucky to get about $500 tops. Consider that the $2,824 only covers the wax pattern, not the bronze casting, which would have to be cast in three parts and welded together, according to APP. So, obviously, this is one that will never be produced for sale, if at all. Unless I become rich and famous first, that is. ![]() If I'm so lucky as to win, I bet they'll have a fit when they realize what it's going to take to honor their commitment to produce it. Of course, they'd probably just do one of those quasi-plastic models of it, which would be much cheaper. Gary |
