Does anyone know of any public art which uses shadows as a form of expressing an idea/ history of a person or place?

As far as public art you may have a great lead on something new. I have seen images taken after Heroshima that are very powerful, of negatives left on walls of people that were evaporated but left thier mark. You should check these images out they might be of some interest to your line of thought. Hope I didn't waist your time.

Re: Shadows
Craig Stone, one of my professors back in college, made some works for the Belmont Shore area of Long Beach that were shadows of the parking meters stained into the concrete sidewalks. Here's a website that shows one of them. Scroll down to the bottom of the page. http://www.elcamino.edu/commadv/artg...g_stone05.html
